How do I work this problem? I'm completely lost 🫣

For this problem, each of the steps of the problem (a, b, c, d, e) are taking you through the steps of how to do it. Before you begin, you can create the chart that I did in the videos to help organize the information it gives you. You won't be able to finish the chart until you have gotten through part b, but you can add information as you go.

This is as much as you fill in such a chart before starting part a of the problem.

d

r

t

Alf

660

+2

Daisy

720

  1. Part a says to let Daisy's time equal x. If Daisy's time is x, what is Alf's time (remember he starts two minutes before Daisy). Below is an example of your chart at this point.

b) Using the chart, you can finish the diagram that the book has here. This diagram also gives you an idea of what this scenario looks like. It also gives a line diagram like what we did in lesson 6.

c) now use the line diagram you completed in part b to write an equation for this scenario (Think of this as a line diagram like the ones from lesson 6 where you wrote equations and solved them.)

Let me know if this helps!
