Hi,

A friend that is taking algebra in a private school was asking if I’ve been working on matrices. I looked it up and see that it is the same approach as simultaneous equations but maybe just formatted differently & used for solving many equations at once. Is this correct? Do we cover using matrices in this course?

Hi Hudson,

That is correct, matrices is often useful for solving simultaneous equations. It is more useful when you have more than two simultaneous equations that you are solving. We do not cover matrices in this course and instead focus on a solid understanding of what simultaneous equations are and how they are solved. The elimination method of solving them is prepping you to learn about matrices when you circle back to simultaneous equations in algebra 2.

They are something fun to look forward to for sure!
