What?

Think about what it would mean for an exponent to be negative. If there is an exponent that means you are multiplying a number by itself a certain number of times. How can you do that a negative number of times? Or using the definition of negatives meaning opposite, how can you multiply a number by itself an opposite number of times?

Weird right? Well, today we will look at patterns that exponents make to figure out what it means to have a negative or even zero exponent.
