What?
Think about what it would mean for an exponent to be negative. If there is an exponent that means you are multiplying a number by itself a certain number of times. How can you do that a negative number of times? Or using the definition of negatives meaning opposite, how can you multiply a number by itself an opposite number of times?
Weird right? Well, today we will look at patterns that exponents make to figure out what it means to have a negative or even zero exponent.

Practice working with equivalent equations by doing the following exercises from Chapter 8 Lesson 4 in your textbook.
#4, 5(a, b, c, e, f), 6, 7(a, c, e, g), 8(a - n)
